Inspired by the raw materials left by cyclone Gabrielle on Tairawhiti's beaches, the Stump series transforms wood debris into occasional tables and candlesticks. Machining the logs level and covering them with smooth, coloured Formica, juxtaposes the rough against the man-made. The stump series brings a raw sculptural element into the interior environment.
 
This pair is made from a washed up eucalyptus branch. The bark peeled off to reveal beautiful vein-like markings on the smooth timber.
